Scholarship Will Assist Pandemic-Affected Students

POTTSTOWN PA – A $20,000 scholarship grant has been awarded to Montgomery County Community College by Ellucian, a company producing software products for higher education providers, specifically to help students affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

The company’s PATH (Progress, Accomplishment, Thriving and Hope) Scholarship Fund gift is intended to relieve students’ economic hardships. It’s expected to help about 20 individuals attending the college, according to MCCC President Dr. Victoria Bastecki-Perez, who expressed her appreciation.

The funds “will assist our students at a time when they need it the most to complete their educational goals,” Bastecki-Perez noted.

Ellucian CEO and President Laura Ipsen said her firm pledged an initial $1 million to the scholarship fund, and distributed $500,000 to community and technical colleges across the United States. It aims to continue its growth with the support of partners to reach a $10 million goal in 2021, she added.
