West Pottsgrove, Community Mourns Loss of Chief Stofflet

WEST POTTSGROVE PA – West Pottsgrove Police Chief Matthew Stofflet, a Boyertown area native and Marine Corps veteran who led the its police department since January 2015, has died, the West Pottsgrove Township Facebook page reported Sunday (Dec. 27, 2020) at about 7 p.m. No details were immediately available.

“Regrettably our Chief of Police, Matt Stofflet, has passed away,” the notice stated. “Mutual aid from surrounding departments will be occurring through the week to allow our officers time to grieve. Our condolences go out to the Stofflet family at this time,” it added.

The post had been shared more than 150 times as of Monday at 5 a.m., and attracted 130 comments praising the chief’s kindness, compassion, and integrity. He was also remembered separately Sunday by brothers in blue and others in local and law enforcement circles (below).

Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
