Limerick Schedules Hearing on Fire Truck Acquisition

LIMERICK PA – Limerick Township’s Fire Department hopes to obtain a new fire truck, costing up to $567,000, under a proposed lease-purchase agreement, and its board of directors is scheduled to hold a public hearing on the matter Monday (Jan. 4, 2021) at 6:45 p.m. in the 390 W. Ridge Pike firehouse, according to a legal advertisement published on the board’s behalf.

The meeting is free to attend and open to the public. Anyone with an opinion on the proposal can express their views or make suggestions aloud or in writing during the meeting. All “will be heard and considered,” the advertisement promised, and then board members are expected to act on the proposal.

Repayment of the agreement will be secured by the truck itself, it added. Interest costs on the purchase are deemed to be “exempt from state and federal income taxes,” it stated.
