Local Sub Maker PrimoHoagies to Open 21 New Stores

PHILADELPHIA PA – PrimoHoagies, the Philly-style sandwich chain with stores in Royersford, Phoenixville, and Harleysville, has “signed agreements to open 21 new franchise locations throughout the Northeast,” according to Monday’s (Jan. 11, 2021) edition of the Philadelphia Business Journal. Despite the coronavirus pandemic, the company’s CEO called 2020 its best year ever.

The chain operates now operates “81 locations in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Florida, Maryland, New Jersey and South Carolina,” reporter Laura Smythe wrote in the article. Its expansion will increase that number to 102 stores, she added, including 15 in New Jersey, and one each in Baltimore and Pittsburgh. At least half should open in the current year, and the remainder in 2022.

CEO Nicholas Papanier Jr. said ended 2020 with a roughly 13-percent increase in sales of 2019, primarily on the strength of take-out service through curbside pick-up and third-party delivery drivers. He said it also benefited from strong suburban locations.
