Colleges Laud Students’ Success Despite Pandemic

POTTSTOWN PA – Thirty-two residents of Pottstown, Stowe, and Royersford have been honored for academic achievements during the latest semester, as reported by their respective colleges and universities, earned despite adversities they may have faced as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

Recognized for activities

Laura Bonanni of Royersford has completed her internship requirements to earn her associate degree at Central Penn College as a physical therapist assistant.

Christina Hart and Kylif Underwood, both of Pottstown, were among 447 students who received degrees Dec. 19 (2020) from East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania.

Jordan Siket of Pottstown began classes Dec. 14 as an enrolled Winter 2020 student at Northampton Community College.

Taylor Smith and Jennifer Weston, both of Pottstown, participated in Bloomsburg University’s fifth annual Day of Dialogue. The event involves students, alumni, faculty, and staff “to connect with their shared experiences, and allows alumni to support students as they navigate experiences at the university.”

Anna Dempsey of Pottstown was among Bloomsburg University students to attend its first etiquette event, “Meals, Manners and Mentors.” It was designed to simulate a professional conference and networking experience to help students gain confidence in professional interactions and etiquette.

Marie Smoyer of Pottstown was recently initiated into the Virginia Tech chapter of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society.

Named to dean’s or president’s lists

At Slippery Rock University: Reece Leotta, Jessica Luscher, and Madison Thierry, all from Pottstown; Julianna Shunk from Stowe, and Gina Iannozzi and Spencer Stone, both from Royersford.

At Mount St. Mary’s University: Kira Buchler of Pottstown, and John Straub of Royersford. Grace Zeller of Royersford, with a 4.0 average, was named to its President’s List.

At Bob Jones University: Named to its President’s List, Jedidiah Delich, Madison Thomas, and Luke Sassa, all of Pottstown.

At McDaniel College: Brenna Mayberry of Pottstown.

At the University of Kentucky College of Arts and Sciences: Payton Sinkbeil of Pottstown.

At the University of Mississippi: Maya Ann Duke and Hannah Elisabeth Resuta, both of Royersford.

At Elmira College: Madison Morton of Pottstown.

At Mansfield University: Named to its President’s List with a 4.0 average, Julia Ngure of Royersford.

At Bucknell University: Luke Allain, Jake Campbell, David Campbell, Simon Krizak, and Ben McDonald, all of Pottstown; and Hannah Grillo of Royersford.
