LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – Appointments to various Pottsgrove Board of School Directors committees – on which many familiar faces are likely to return, according to board President Robert Lindgren, but a few changes are possible – probably will be made during its Jan. 26 (2021; Tuesday) virtual meeting beginning at 7:30 p.m.

At the board’s Tuesday (Jan. 12) meeting, Lindgren said he was still confirming colleagues names’ on his several lists. Appointments had been scheduled to occur Tuesday, but were deferred. The sole exception was the re-appointment of director Patti Grimm as the district liaison to the Pennsylvania School Boards Association.

Each of the nine board members volunteer for, or are assigned to, seats on its four primary committees: Operations and Facilities; Athletics, Co-Curricular, and Community Relations; Curriculum, Integration, and Technology; and Policy. When possible, board presidents honor directors’ requests to work on specific committees.

Committee members are often joined at their meetings by district administrators or staff employees as appropriate. Committees recommend actions within their purview to the full board for its decisions and action. As many presidents including Lindgren have noted in the past, the committee system is where the bulk of work, discussion, and research affecting school board decisions is completed.

Grimm also will chair WMCTC joint committee

The board later learned Grimm also will serve this year as chair of the Western Montgomery Career and Technology Center’s Joint Operating Committee. The committee consists of member-representatives from the center’s sending districts: Pottsgrove, Spring-Ford, and Upper Perkiomen.
