Pottsgrove Posts Guides for Student Marking Periods
LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – Faced by changes in ways Pottsgrove School District students have been taught – in virtual or hybrid models, or both – since the start of the 2020-2021 current academic year, its administration last week announced “practices regarding mid-term exams and final course grade weighting.”
A two-page undated letter from Superintendent Dr. William Shirk Jr. offers details on how “weighting used to calculate final grades has been adjusted” for secondary students during the second marking period of Nov. 5 (2020) to Jan. 25 (2021). It also supplies a rubric to show how teachers will assign grades to elementary students during the second trimester from Dec. 3 (2020) to March 11 (2021).
Shirk’s letter stated the “adjustments were made through ongoing conversations with many teachers and administrators.” It’s hoped that “the adjustments allow teachers to maximize instructional time and provide students with additional opportunities for success,” he added.
