Pottstown Culinary Students Learn in ‘New’ Kitchen

MAKING KITCHEN PROGRAM IMPROVEMENTS – Culinary Arts students at Pottstown High School are benefiting from a new line of equipment in their working kitchen-classroom. Pottstown Director Of Career Technical Education Dave Livengood partnered with suppliers Vulcan and 4 Star Reps to obtain a $50,000 grant that, combined with matching funds, paid to replace equipment that was more than 20 years old. Teacher and Chef Steve Irick (below), himself a graduate of the Pottstown program, called the revamped kitchen “state of the art” and said it would “greatly improve the students’ learning experience.” They are involved in group instruction as well as several catering events monthly.
