Update: Human Remains in Lower Pottsgrove Identified

LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office has confirmed an identity for human remains discovered Jan. 16 (2021; Saturday) by hunters in a wooded area near Armand Hammer Boulevard, Lower Pottsgrove Acting Police Chief William James told the township Board of Commissioners during its Monday (Feb. 1) meeting.

The identification has not yet been publicly released, he noted. Information about the case is being withheld “pending a determination by the coroner” of a cause and manner of death, James said.

James’ report credited the work of department Det. Daniel Kienle and Ofc. Ryan Smith for the investigation.

Commissioners received the report without comment.

Township Police Continue Investigation of Human Remains

LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – An investigation is continuing into the discovery Saturday (Jan. 16, 2021) at 11:26 a.m. of what the Lower Pottsgrove Police Department has determined are human remains found by a hunting party in a wooded area off Armand Hammer Boulevard, near the former Occidental Chemical property and the Schuylkill River, its CrimeWatch website reported.

Township police responded to a call from the hunters as they came across what seemed to be human bones. The find was confirmed, the area cordoned off, and the remains were transferred to the Montgomery County Coroner’s office. It is tasked with determining the cause and manner of death, and the identity of the individual.

The Montgomery County Detectives Bureau also is involved in the investigation.
