PA American Water Opens 2021 Grant Funding Season

MECHANICSBURG PA – Applications are now being accepted for a 2021 environmental grant program conducted by the Mechanicsburg-based Pennsylvania American Water Company, which offers competitive funding of projects that improve, restore or protect local watersheds, surface water, and groundwater supplies.

The company supplies water to properties in Spring City, Royersford and Phoenixville boroughs, and Limerick, Lower Pottsgrove, and Upper Providence townships.

Proposed projects must be located within Pennsylvania American’s service area, completed between May and November 2021, represent a new or innovative community initiative or a significant expansion of an existing program, involve a partnership of two or more organizations, and provide evidence of sustainability after the grant ends. Program information and applications forms are available here.

Established in 2005, this annual grant program has donated more than $525,000 to fund more than 100 projects to protect and improve the environment across the commonwealth. Last year, 11 organizations received a share of grant funds totaling $40,000 for their community-based projects.
