Treasurer Salus Names Louis as County’s ‘First Dog’

OFFICIALLY, HE’S FIRST DOG – Meet Louis (at top), whose Bala Cynwyd PA pet parent is undoubtedly proud because he was named Friday (Feb. 19, 2021) as “First Dog of Montgomery County” by county Treasurer Jason Salus. Salus’ office also is responsible for dog licensing, and he recently held the First Dog contest to put a little whimsy into its licensing website. The event was a hit, the treasurer said, attracting almost 400 entries from owners across the county. “Residents enjoyed showcasing their dogs and the judges had a difficult time in their selection,” Salus said. The website will carry photos of ‘Honorable Mentions’ as well. “Louis, whose full name is Louis Pasteur Croissant, loves to play in the snow, go on hikes and snuggle with his favorite humans,” the treasurer added.
