MCCC Looks Ahead to Three Virtual Career, Job Events
POTTSTOWN PA – Montgomery County Community College students and alumni, as well as local residents, are invited to meet and network with area businesses during three events – March 10 (Wednesday) from 11 a.m. to noon; April 6 (Tuesday) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and April 27 (Tuesday) from 2-3 p.m. – for the college’s online Career Fair and Employer Days.
Employer Days events are planned March 10 and April 27. The career fair will be held April 6. Takisha Mundy (at top), college director of career services, called the three “a win-win for job seekers and employers.”
“During a time when everyone needs work, these events really give students, alumni and community members a platform to engage with employers,” she said. “Likewise, employers are looking for great talent.”
Employer Day events are meant to be informal to help lift some pressure from job seekers. They also provide valuable exposure to participants who need practice meeting with potential employers. “Participants can let their hair down a bit and learn more about the opportunities available to them,” Mundy said.
“I don’t know anyone who doesn’t get butterflies before a job interview,” Mundy added. “We have workshops to train students and alumni to ask employers the right questions” The sessions “allow them to grow their confidence. Exposure very important.”
Bethany Eisenhart, coordinator of internships and career services, said a benefit of the virtual events is that it enables students’ off-campus participation. “They are now able to get involved with virtual events,” she said. “Those students can connect to a community virtually that they wouldn’t have had in person.”
“It gives them an opportunity to engage with us,” Mundy agreed. “We can let them know of services they can take advantage of including resume reviews, networking events that will allow them to build relationships with employers. It sets students up for career success.”
