Commercial Licenses, Extended Earlier, Set to Expire

HARRISBURG PA – Commercial driver licenses and commercial learner’s permits that were set to expire in March 2020, and then were extended by the state Department of Transportation as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, have been extended for one last and final time, the department said, until March 31 (2021).

In addition to declines in virus positivity, hospitalization, and attributable death rates, it appears to be another signal the state sees light at the end of the disease tunnel.

Commercial drivers and learners whose licenses or permits are covered by the extension, but have not yet been renewed, were encouraged to renew as soon as possible by March 31. “No further extensions will be given,” it stated matter-of-factly in a Monday (Feb. 22) media release.

Expiration extension deadlines on non-commercial driver licenses, photo identification cards, learner’s permits and camera cards ended Aug. 31, 2020.
