Pottstown Plans ‘Senior Acceptance Day’ Celebration

POTTSTOWN PA – Staff and volunteers at Pottstown High School, working with area businesses and local organizations, are in the process of planning a May 5 (2021; Wednesday) “Senior Acceptance Day” celebration for graduating seniors who have been accepted into colleges, universities, trade schools, and the military to further their education.

The team is hoping for even more community help, according to Pottstown college and career Counselor Susan Pritt.

“Many of these students will be the first in their family pursuing higher education,” Pritt explained in a Friday (March 12) e-mail. Most “are from economically disadvantaged families in need of donations to continue their education in the fall,” she wrote.

So planners are asking businesses, residents, and interested groups to donate funds, gift cards, or basic items like toiletries and school supplies, that will be distributed during the celebration and also support students as their new journeys begin. “No amount is too small,” she said, to help seniors fulfill their dreams of higher education success.

“Our seniors have endured much over the past year,” Pritt said, “and deserve to be celebrated.” Potential donors can reference the effort’s tax identification number, 76466405, and contact Pritt by phone at 610-639-1798 or by e-mail, here, with questions.
