Western MontCo at High Risk of Fires Through Monday

MOUNT HOLLY NJ – Western Montgomery County, as well as all of Berks and parts of Chester counties, remain under a red-flag fire warning through today (Monday, March 15, 2021) at 5 p.m., as weather conditions are ripe “for the rapid spread of wildfires, the National Weather Center office in Mount Holly reported this early morning.

A combination of northwest winds from 10-20 miles per hour, with gusts of up to 25 mph; very dry air, reflecting a severe drop in relative humidity to between 10 and 20 percent; and what the center described as “very dry fuels” are expected to create “critical fire weather conditions.” Any fires that develop “may quickly get out of control and become difficult to contain,” it added.

High temperatures today are anticipated in the upper-30-to-middle-40 degree range.
