422 Lane Closures Due in Limerick, Lower Pottsgrove

KING OF PRUSSIA PA – U.S. Route 422 travelers will encounter lane closures in both directions next week for construction activities along portions of a five-mile section of the four-lane, limited access highway between its Royersford-Trappe and Sanatoga interchanges across Limerick and Lower Pottsgrove townships, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced.

The work schedule and locations include:

  • Left- or right-lane closures Monday through Friday (March 22-26) from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on westbound 422 between Country Club and Evergreen roads; and
  • Left- or right-lane closure as well Monday through Friday (March 22-26) from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on eastbound 422 between Park and Township Line roads, and at its Limerick and Sanatoga interchanges.

Work being performed by PennDOT contractor H&K Group Inc. of Skippack in the $19.1 million project includes mill, overlay, and rehabilitate existing pavement; perform bridge deck repairs, concrete and joint patching, sealing and drainage improvements; install new guide rail and rumble strips; and repair or replace damaged traffic signs along the corridor.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas. PennDOT believes backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities depend on acceptable weather.

Work on this project will comply with Centers for Disease Control and state Department of Health guidance for coronavirus safety. The entire project is expected to be completed in late 2021.
