Pioneering Pottstown Girl Wrestlers Earn More Honors

POTTSTOWN HARD WORK PAYS OFF – Pottstown High School girl wrestlers Julianna Figueroa, Zoe Earle, Mia Bumbarger, and Xiyah Robinson (at top, shown with their coaches) enjoyed success Sunday (March 21, 2021) during the My House State All-Girl Championships in wrestling held in Lancaster PA. Figueroa, who placed second at the 134-pound class, became the Pottstown program’s first female three-time state medal winner. Bumbarger placed sixth at 147 pounds, and Robinson placed fourth in the 222 class; both are two-time state medal winners. Earle ended her “highly successful” high school career, the school district reported, going 2-2 on the day. All four, it noted, “are pioneers in helping to promote girls wrestling as a sanctioned sport by the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association.”
