Pennycuick Named to Military Education Commission
HARRISBURG PA – 147th District state Rep. Tracy Pennycuick – who represents residents in all or parts of Upper and West Pottsgrove, Douglass (Montgomery), New Hanover, Upper and Lower Frederick, Upper and Lower Salford townships, and Schwenksville and Green Lane boroughs – has been appointed to a 4-year term as a member of the Military Interstate Children’s Compact Commission.
Under the appointment announced Monday (March 29, 2021) by state House Speaker Bryan Cutler, Pennycuick will work with the commission to address educational challenges military children face as they transfer between states, such as in the areas of enrollment, placement, attendance, eligibility and graduation.
Pennycuick is a United States Army combat veteran who retired from the military after 26 years of both active and reserve service. She also serves as a member of the House Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Services Committee.
“This issue is very important to me personally,” Pennycuick said. “My four children moved 17 times both domestically and internationally while my husband and I served in the military, and they attended as many as 10 different schools. Being able to move with military parents and still meet graduation requirements is critical to long-term success for the child, as well as retention for the military.”
