Students Can Win $500 in Poster Artwork Contest
POTTSTOWN PA – Elementary, middle, and high school students (those in grades 3-12) are being encouraged to submit artwork to a statewide contest advocating legislative changes in a system that officials charge inequitably distributes funding to Pennsylvania schools.
“This is a crucial opportunity for students to share their stories about inequitable education resources as lawmakers in Harrisburg decide whether to fairly fund PA students, the contest sponsoring organization, “Pennsylvanians for Fair Funding,” said Friday.
Artwork submissions are being accepted digitally or by mail from April 8-30. First, second, and Voter’s Choice prizes will be awarded in each of three categories – for 3rd-5th grades, 6-8th grades, 9-12th grades – with top prize amounts of $500 in each category.
E-mailed entries can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org and must arrive by April 30. Mailed entries can be sent to Art Contest, 554 Belmont St, Pottstown PA 19464, and must arrive there by May 7, but an e-mail indicating a submission is in the mail also must be received by April 30, according to stated rules.
A panel of artist-judges from around the state will make their winning selections May 9-15. Artwork will be displayed online for Voters Choice award voting between May 9-20. Winners will be announced May 21 (Saturday) online here, and on social media pages.
