Hot Lunch! No Change in Pottsgrove Cafeteria Prices

LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – Prices for breakfasts, lunches, and a la carte food items purchased in a Pottsgrove School District cafeteria during the coming academic year will remain unchanged from the previous 12 months under a budget prepared by Chartwells, the district’s contracted food services provider. Its spending plan was adopted Tuesday (April 13, 2021) by the Board of School Directors.

Pricing continues during 2021-2022 at $1.70 for breakfasts, $2.70 for elementary lunch, $3.05 for middle school lunch, and $3.40 for high school lunch. For adults who occasionally dine at one of the cafeterias as well, the cost for breakfast is $2.15, and lunch, $4.10.

The a la carte menu, found at the district website here, features a full page of entrées and sandwiches, a salad, and a discount for those hungry enough for a second entrée. Also on the list are vegetables and breads, a selection of beverages, and a roster of snacks that ranges from animal crackers to yogurt with granola.

After the board’s vote, Business Administrator David Nester extended public thanks to Chartwells representative Tom Hillanbrand, who will retire at the end of April. Hillanbrand has worked on Pottsgrove’s account for 17 years, Nester explained, and has not only offered continued support but also helped make possible his company’s sponsorship of the district’s annual spring fun run.

Board President Robert Lindgren agreed, calling Chartwells and its employees “absolutely invaluable.”
