PECO Nears Full Year of Autistic Adult Employment

PHILADELPHIA PA – PECO Energy, which supplies a large portion of western Montgomery County with electric and gas utility services, is nearing its first anniversary of participation in a program that focuses on employment for adults with disabilities, including those on the autism spectrum, it said Monday (April 19, 2021).

The company has worked since June 2020 with The Precisionists, a Wilmington DE-based agency that helps assess and train people with autism. PECO credits its program in producing “extremely high-performing employees” who work in “in critical and challenging jobs such as administrative business functions, including scanning documents (above) and data entry, software testing, website QA, and data analytics.”

Across the county, 80 percent of “neuro-diverse adults with developmental disabilities, such as autism … are either unemployed or underemployed,” Precisionists’ CEO Ernie Dianastasis estimated. “We are thrilled to partner on this project with PECO,” he said, as it makes “a true difference in engaging a significant, untapped labor force.”
