COLLEGEVILLE PA – A move toward “more flexible work routines” fueled by what earlier was employees’ pandemic-driven need to work from home has prompted Pfizer Inc. to put its 340-acre Arcola Road campus in Collegeville up for sale, The Philadelphia Business Journal reported Tuesday (April 27, 2021).

If and when the property is sold, Journal Reporter Natalie Kostelni wrote, the company proposes to lease space there for at least two more years, it added. The other occupant of the campus, Dow Chemical Co., “would remain in its space under a lease that runs for another six years.” It also has long-term lease renewal options available there, according to the article.

In addition to more than a million square feet of office space across eight buildings, the campus also provides more than 729,000 square feet of laboratory space, and a host of amenities. A guest house, conference center, tennis courts, softball fields, and a heliport top the list.

A Pfizer spokesperson told the reporter it was “exploring several options for our Collegeville site as we seek to provide more modern and flexible workspaces for our colleagues.” The company hopes to provide “greater flexibility to work remotely while still maintaining the ability to connect and collaborate regularly on-site” once coronavirus restrictions are fully lifted.
