Upper Providence Work Prompts Two Lane Closures

UPPER PROVIDENCE PA – Weekday lane closures are planned by Upper Providence to begin Monday (May 24, 2021) and continue through Sept. 30 on a portion of Black Rock Road, and from June 1 (Tuesday) through mid-November on a portion of Route 29, for utility improvements, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said.

PennDOT’s Wednesday morning (May 19) announcement indicated drivers will encounter weekday lane closures:

  • Between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily on Black Rock Road, between Route 29 and Route 113, from May 24 to Sept. 30; and
  • Between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. daily on Route 29, between Amelia Street and the Schuylkill River Trail, from June 1 to Nov. 19.

Upper Providence public works crews or its contractors will complete these projects under a PennDOT highway occupancy permit, the agency said.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas. Back-ups and delays will occur, PennDOT warned. All scheduled activities depend on acceptable weather.
