Limerick Emergency Siren Test Scheduled June 7
LIMERICK PA – A semi-annual, full-volume test of the emergency warning siren system surrounding the Limerick nuclear generating station, 3146 Sanatoga Rd., will be conducted for a period of three minutes on June 7 (2021; Monday) at 2 p.m. by Exelon Generation personnel, the company said. This test is one of two performed each year.
The system consists of sirens located in a 10-mile radius around the generating station across parts of Montgomery, Chester, and Berks counties. The sirens are not a signal to evacuate, but a warning to tune to a local Emergency Alert Broadcast television or radio station. County emergency management authorities can activate the sirens in the event of any emergency, including severe weather.
The generating station is located about 21 miles northwest of Philadelphia.
