Get Reading in Pottstown Summer Library Challenge

POTTSTOWN PA – Four different “story walks,” to be located on coming dates within parks in Pottstown, West Pottsgrove, Lower Pottsgrove, and Upper Pottsgrove, are among highlights of the more than 60 programs being offered this summer during the Tails & Tales Reading Challenge conducted by the Pottstown Regional Public Library.

The library’s summer events got under way Tuesday (June 8, 2021) with a performance by Makin’ Music with Mr. Mike (at top, and below). Sixteen youngsters were entertained with his singing, shaking, and dancing on the side lawn outside the library at 500 E. High St.

Each Story Walk presents two books, one for ages 0-5 and one for ages 6-12. Families can come to the parks on kick-off nights to be announced (check the library calendar for information on program dates and times) and walk through the stories of their choice. If their children are among the first 50 to arrive, they could receive goodie bags to enjoy before they walk or enjoy on their own time.

The challenge offers four reading levels: for pre-readers ages 0-5; elementary, ages 6-12; teens, ages 13-18; and adults, ages 19-109! Every prize offered to reward program participants has at least one item sourced from local Pottstown businesses, the library noted. For more information, see the webpage, here.
