Township Ready for Bids on More Park Improvements

LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – A second set of renovations to Lower Pottsgrove’s largest and most active recreation area, Gerald Richards Park, is expected to include improvements to several sections of the park and its walking trail system, and construction and installation of best management practices and devices for storm water. The township is preparing this week to solicit bids for the work.

A required meeting for all bidders is planned for Wednesday (June 16, 2021) at 1 p.m. Bids are due by July 2, and if a bid is awarded the township has specified the job should be “substantially” completed by Sept. 30.

The park’s first set of improvements focused on visitor parking at its northwest end (at top and below). Before improvements there it suffered from poor drainage and occasionally swampy conditions. A new parking surface features permeable ground cover that soaks up rain, and a storm water management system.

Both phases 1 and 2 of the park improvements are being paid for primarily with grant money.
