Ursinus College President Leaving for California
COLLEGEVILLE PA – Brock Blomberg, Ursinus College president since 2015, will leave that position to become president of the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco on Sept. 1, the college announced Wednesday (June 23, 2021). The college Board of Trustees is expected to begin a search for his successor.
Blomberg led Ursinus “through its 150th anniversary and a bold strategic plan,” its statement said. It championed the liberal arts while also adding “an inquisitive new core curriculum that garnered national attention.” He is credited with leading the college’s most ambitious and most successful comprehensive campaign, “Keep the Promise,” which paralleled its sesquicentennial celebration.
During his tenure the campus’ footprint was changed with completion of a long-planned Innovation and Discovery Center, as well as development of Schellhase Commons, a new campus gateway and admission center. His aggressive approach to confronting the pandemic and prioritizing the health of the campus community was recognized by The Philadelphia Inquirer.
