Route 422 Highway Work Resumes After Holiday

LIMERICK PA – When U.S. Route 422 drivers return from the Independence Day holiday, they’ll find three portions of the highway between the Royersford-Trappe and Sanatoga interchanges affected by lane and shoulder closures, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced.

Scheduled are:

  • A right lane and shoulder closure Tuesday (July 6) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on westbound 422 between Township Line Road and Evergreen Road. and also at the ramps to the Sanatoga and Limerick interchanges, for asphalt sealing and sign installation;
  • Alternating left- and right-lane and shoulder closures Wednesday and Thursday (July 7-8) from 10 a.m to 8 p.m. on eastbound 422, between Airport Road and Lewis Road, for bridge deck sealing; and
  • A right lane and shoulder closure Wednesday through Friday (July 7-9) from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. on westbound 422 between Township Line Road and Evergreen Road, and again at the ramps to the Sanatoga and Limerick interchanges, for asphalt sealing and sign installation.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas. Backups and delays will occur, PennDOT warned. All scheduled activities depend on acceptable weather.

Under this improvement project, PennDOT contractor H&K Group Inc. of Skippack will mill, overlay and rehabilitate existing 422 pavement; perform bridge deck repairs, concrete and joint patching, sealing and drainage improvements; install new guide rail and rumble strips; and repair or replace damaged traffic signs along the corridor.
