422 Construction Project Lane Closures Planned

LIMERICK PA – Drivers on U.S. Route 422 will encounter lane closures in both directions next Monday through Friday (July 12-16, and July 21 (Wednesday) across portions of Limerick and Lower Pottsgrove townships for construction activities related to two separate Pennsylvania Department of Transportation improvement projects, the state agency said.

The work schedule and locations are:

  • Alternating left- and right-lane and shoulder closures will be in place Monday through Friday (July 12-16) from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily on westbound 422 between Township Line Road and Evergreen Road, as well as at the ramps to the Sanatoga and Limerick interchanges in Limerick Township, for rumble strip and line painting operations; and
  • Periodic 15-minute traffic stoppages will be in place July 21 (Wednesday) overnight from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning on east- and westbound 422 between the Armand Hammer Boulevard and Sanatoga interchanges in Lower Pottsgrove Township, for bridge beam installation.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas. Backups and delays will occur, PennDOT said. All scheduled activities depend on acceptable weather.

The rumble strip and line painting operations are part of a project to rehabilitate pavement and repair seven structures along a five-mile section of 422 between the Royersford-Trappe and Sanatoga interchanges. The bridge beam installation is part of a project to replace structures that carry Park Road and South Pleasant View Road over 422.
