Steel River Artists Prepare for Three August Shows

POTTSTOWN, PA – With summer camp in full swing, and audiences hoping to see live local theater thrive again, the artists of Steel River Playhouse are working hard to present three live performances during August to the community.

Scheduled for Aug. 20-22 at Steel River Playhouse, 245 E. High St., is the popular show “Heathers – High School Edition,” performed by its student intensive workshop participants. The show features direction and choreography by Dann Dunn, with assistant direction and choreography by Lisa Hendriks and music direction by Eileen Fields.

Tickets will be available soon. Find more information online or call the box office at 610-970-1199.

Need your theater fix sooner? Join Steel River cast members Aug. 14 (Saturday) at 10 a.m. at the Kimberton Community Park Amphitheater for “Aesop’s (Oh So Slightly) Updated Fables!” It’s a great show for the entire family, and you’ll love the new spin on these children’s stories. It’s presented by the Kimberton Arts Alliance and East Pikeland Township.

The following week – Aug. 21 (Saturday) at 7:30 p.m., also at the amphitheater – will find Steel River players in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” Tickets are only $10 for adults and $5 for seniors; children age 12 and younger are admitted free. This classic from Shakespeare will keep you laughing.

An Elizabethan pig roast (ticketed separately) is scheduled before the show. Check the arts alliance calendar for more information.

The August events are just a prelude to Steel River’s coming 2021-2022 season. It’s preparing now to open its doors and welcome the community back to theater, music, and more beginning in September.
