422 Overnight Detours Planned July 22-30 in Township
LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – Overnight detours are planned July 22-30 (2021; Thursday through the following Friday) on both directions of U.S. Route 422 between its Armand Hammer Boulevard and Sanatoga interchanges, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said, for continued work to replace the South Pleasant View and South Park road bridges over the four-lane highway.
The detours are scheduled nightly for between midnight and 5 a.m., PennDOT reported. During the closures, eastbound 422 drivers will be directed to use Armand Hammer Boulevard and High Street to access the expressway at Rupert Road. Westbound 422 directs will exit at the Sanatoga interchange, and then use High Street and Armand Hammer Boulevard to access the expressway.
Additionally, 422 travelers can expect to encounter periodic, 15-minute traffic stoppages Thursday, (July 22) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in both directions between the interchanges for bridge beam installation.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through or near the work area. Backups and delays are likely, PennDOT advised. All scheduled activities depend on acceptable weather.
Replacement of both bridges is being done ahead of starting an accompanying project to rebuild 422 between the Sanatoga interchange and Porter Road. H&K Group Inc. of Skippack is the general contractor on the $7.1 million project. It is expected to be completed in late 2022.
