Detectives Investigate ‘Suspicious Death’ at Hotel
LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – Township police department detectives are being joined by members of the Montgomery County narcotics team to investigate what is being described as a “suspicious death,” Acting Police Chief Lt. William James reported Monday (Aug. 2, 2021) night to the Lower Pottsgrove Board of Commissioners. Its first meeting of the month was held at The Sunnybrook Ballroom.
Detective Sgt. Joseph Campbell and Detective Daniel Kienle also are investigating separate and unrelated incidents involving an armed robbery, and a reported shooting, according to James.
The incident is said to have occurred sometime between Wednesday and Thursday (July 28-29) at the Best Western hotel on Industrial Highway. Montgomery County emergency dispatchers initially sent first responders to the scene. James’ written report offered no details except to say drugs appear to be involved, and that an investigation is continuing.
Campbell and Kienle are continuing to investigate an alleged armed robbery that reportedly occurred Friday (July 30) during afternoon hours at the U.S. Gas fuel and convenience store, 2177 E. High St. There was no mention of potential suspects, and no details were offered.
A “strong-arm robbery” occurred at the same location during the 2017 Memorial Day weekend.
A department investigation continues into the alleged firing of a gun during early July, which was originally reported as a “fireworks” noise. No one was harmed in the incident, according to James. The detectives’ work has resulted in the identification of suspects, he said.
