Slight Injury at Monday Accident in Lower Pottsgrove
LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – One person was reported as slightly injured following a two-vehicle accident Monday (Aug. 2, 2021) at 3:28 p.m. in the 2200 block of New Hanover Square Road in Lower Pottsgrove, just north of Bleim Road. Both vehicles were disabled and needed to be towed, township police said. No tickets were issued.
The collision between a blue Tesla Model S with a male driver and passenger (above), and a gray Lexus sport utility vehicle (below) that carried a family including four children, occurred near a sharp curve in New Hanover Square Road that a nearby property owner said had proved dangerous before.
The names of those involved were unavailable at the scene, as police were still conducting their investigation and had not yet written a final report. The Tesla driver, police said, reported shoulder discomfort after the accident.
Police said the Lexus was northbound on the highway, headed in the direction of Route 73, and the Tesla was southbound headed toward Bleim when the accident occurred. The impact stopped the Tesla, but the Lexus veered off the east shoulder of the road and came to rest against a traffic sign that indicated the curve lay ahead.
The highway was blocked and impassable for about 45 minutes. Fire police units from the Sanatoga and Ringing Hill fire companies closed New Hanover Square Road at both Bleim and Cross roads, and detoured traffic during the period. The vehicles were removed by Hawk’s Towing and Recovery of Gilbertsville.
