New Staff Members Arrive at TriCounty Area Chamber

POTTSTOWN PA – The TriCounty Area Chamber of Commerce is introducing two new staff members to its team. Alice Funk and Samantha Kern joined the chamber only a week apart, but have jumped into their new roles, chamber President Eileen Dautrich said.

About Alice Funk

Funk, who started work July 26 (2021), is originally from New Jersey but with family transfers found her way to Pennsylvania, where she’s been for the last four years. She will be responsible for planning, managing, and facilitating all events and programs that develop and maintain chamber membership, including awards dinners, training and leadership programs, networking and business card exchange events, and ribbon cuttings.

She also will coordinate with venues, speakers, caterers, sponsors, committees, and volunteers. Her event management duties include reservations, registration, presentation equipment, follow-up communications, and evaluations. Funk will also be responsible for news releases regarding programs and events to raise awareness of the chamber.

Funk holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and public relations from Rider University, as well as a master’s degree in corporate communications from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Her public relations, marketing and event planning career has involved several businesses, including a water company, drug and alcohol rehabilitation, a wholesale food cooperative, an insurance agency, an insurance professionals’ advocacy group, and the Greater Keene Chamber of Commerce in Keene NH. She also has operated her own scrap-booking businesses during the past 22 years.

About Samantha Kern

Samantha Kern, originally from Williamsport PA, started Aug. 2 as the chamber marketing and communications director. She earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Bloomsburg University, and went on to receive an master’s degree in mass media arts and journalism with a Public Relations Certificate from Clarion University.

Kern will design marketing materials that include flyers, website and social media banners, ads, event programs, and all other electronic or print media to effectively market the chamber and its programs. Additionally she will be responsible for monthly editorial content in the chamber’s section of the Route 422 Business Advisor, its monthly electronic newsletter to chamber members, and also manage all chamber social media outlets.
