Monday Morning Fire Damages Walnut Ridge Units

SANATOGA PA – Callers to Montgomery County emergency dispatchers claimed a propane tank explosion caused a fire Monday (Aug. 9, 2021) at 4:08 a.m. that began on a rear deck among the 700-block units at Walnut Ridge Estates off Kepler Road. Flames and smoke were seen spreading to other parts of the connected structure, according to a resident at the scene.
No one appeared to be injured, but fire officials were still conducting their investigation and could not be contacted for official comment on the incident. Dozens of firefighters from several local companies turned out to assist in extinguishing the blaze (at top and below). Many were still on the scene at 6 a.m., almost two hours after the first alarm.
Even as some responders from more distant fire companies were notified they could begin to pack up equipment, others could be seen inside and outside the units, putting out hot spots with smaller hoses.
Unit 703 appeared to endure the heaviest damage. Residents of adjacent units willingly opened their doors to firefighters, who sought to inspect their walls and roofs for any other fire spread.
