Re-Roofing Work Prompts Lower Pottsgrove Alarm

ROOFING WORK PROMPTS FALSE ALARM – For another time within a month, replacement of the roof at Lower Pottsgrove Elementary School, 1329 Buchert Rd., prompted a false fire alarm Monday (Aug. 9, 2021) at 7:48 a.m. (at top). It came about 90 minutes after firefighters from the Sanatoga and Ringing Hill fire companies had finished with a call to Walnut Ridge Estates. Montgomery County emergency dispatchers sent a combined five trucks from the companies, which quickly determined there was no fire danger. Lower Pottsgrove Fire Marshal Lew Babel in the past has explained that safety sensors within the school can detect heat and odors generated by the re-roofing process, creating the alarm.
