Township Public Works Addresses Drainage Issue

PREPARING FOR WINTER, ALREADY – Run-off from a natural spring on the south side of Pruss Hill Road, about 500 feet east of Schaffer Road in Lower Pottsgrove, occasionally causes winter icing problems on the highway. Employees of the township Public Works Department were out Wednesday (Aug. 11, 2021) at the site (at top and below), installing a new curbside storm water drain and accompanying pipe to better work with an existing drain at the southeast corner of Pruss Hill and Snell roads. The extended system should help eliminate water freezing across the road’s downhill width. Township Director of Utilities John Fogel said the repair has been on his to-do list “for years.” During the work period, eastbound traffic on Pruss Hill Road was detoured across Snell to North Sanatoga Road, and then to East High Street. Westbound traffic was restricted to a single pass-through lane on Pruss Hill.
