Collegeville Hosts Free Summer Concert Thursday

COLLEGEVILLE PA – “Trout Fishing in America,” an American musical duo (at top) that performs folk rock and children’s music, will be featured Thursday (Aug. 19, 2021) from 7-9 p.m. in Collegeville Community Park, 3rd and Park avenues, as the first free summer concert provided by the borough of Collegeville.

The duo consists of Keith Grimwood, who plays bass guitar, upright bass, vocals; and Ezra Idlet on guitars, banjo, bouzouki, vocals. Their first family album remains their most popular, and includes the songs “When I Was A Dinosaur,” “Day Care Blues,” and “The Window.” The Philadelphia Daily News described their music as “songs that treat kids as smart, cynical and obstinate.”

Attendance is open to the public. Concert-goers should bring a blanket or lawn chairs for seating and, for those so inclined, a picnic dinner, the borough suggested. Parking is available. A Kona Ice truck will be on site selling refreshments. The playground will be open to children during the concert, it added. If inclement weather strikes, there is no rain date scheduled.

A second concert, featuring musical performers “Smooth Edge,” is planned for Sept. 9 (Thursday) from 6-8 p.m., also at Community Park. A rain date for the second concert, if needed, is planned for Sept. 16. (Thursday).

This event appears on The Posts’ calendar.
