PMSI’s Zlomek Speaks to National Audience on Hypoglycemia

POTTSTOWN PA – Debbie Zlomek, RN, DCES, BC-ADM, the certified diabetes care and education specialist for Pottstown Medical Specialists Inc. (PMSI), was one of four presenters who spoke Saturday (Aug. 14, 2021) to a national audience attending the annual meeting of the Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists. Zlomek and her colleagues discussed the positive outcomes of a study on preventing hypoglycemia, or low blood sugar levels affecting those with diabetes.

PMSI, headquartered in Pottstown with several offices across Montgomery and Berks counties, was selected as the only medical practice in the country for The Hypoglycemia Prevention Initiative, in a partnership with the Endocrine Society.

PMSI’s work, which involved all its providers and practices, resulted in quality measures to improve patient safety by reducing incidence of hypoglycemia, morbidity, mortality, and related costs. It also provided personalized survey tools that could be used by other specialists, as well as those with diabetes, to help reduce low blood sugar occurrences.
