Troopers: Bicycles Stolen in Schwenksville Burglary
SCHWENKSVILLE PA – One or more so-far-unknown burglars forced their way past the front door of the Perkiomenville Bicycles retail store on Main Street in Schwenksville Borough and stole two specialized bicycles with a total value of about $3,000, Pennsylvania State Police at the Troop K Barracks in Skippack said in a public information release distributed Monday (Aug. 23, 2021).
Troopers said they responded Aug. 16 (Monday) at 5:54 a.m. to a burglar alarm at the store. They subsequently discovered two bicycles had been stolen: a 2018 model Shiv Elite 700S, green and purple in color; and a Shiv Elite 700S Triathalon bike.
The perpetrators tampered with and damaged the store’s metal front door to gain entry, troopers added. The additional cost of repairing or replacing the door was estimated at $500.
An investigation into the incident is continuing. Troopers asked anyone with information regarding the case to call the barracks at 610-584-1250.
The troop’s most recent reports also contained these items:
Trappe residential burglary
Troopers were called Aug. 16 (Monday) at 8:04 p.m. to a West Main Street residence in Trappe Borough to investigate a burglary reported by a 62-year-old Collegeville woman. Entry to the residence was unforced, they noted.
Their investigation determined 108 pills, identified as alprazolam, were taken. A WebMD webpage explains that alprazolam is a sedative used to treat anxiety and panic disorders. No estimate of the pills’ value was supplied in the report.
East Greenville domestic dispute
Troopers arrived Aug. 8 (Sunday) at 6:25 p.m. at a Bank Street, East Greenville, residence to investigate what was reported as an “inactive” domestic dispute involving a 20-year-old Temple PA woman and a 24-year-old East Greenville man.
When they began their investigation, however, troopers determined the argument had at one point become a physical altercation by both sides. They reported “the involved parties were removed from the residence and charged accordingly.” Harassment with physical contact was listed as the offense.
Also under investigation
In other reports troopers said they were investigating:
- Alleged abuse against an 8-year-old female victim, possibly involving harassment with physical contact, that was reported Aug. 8 (Sunday) at 3:56 p.m. in Red Hill Borough; and
- A claim of alleged theft of services related to bad checks written in payment of a bill for a party held at the Hotel Fiesole, 4046 Skippack Pike, Skippack. The complaint was lodged by a hotel representative Aug. 9 (Monday) at 12:27 p.m., the release indicated. The value of the checks was not reported.
