Wegmans Pharmacies Offer Vaccine for Flu Season

COLLEGEVILLE PA – COVID-19 has been here for more than a year, but another worry – the flu – isn’t far behind. All Wegmans Pharmacies, including the company’s locations in Collegeville and King of Prussia, are now offering customers the 2021-2022 influenza vaccine as protection against the flu, it said Monday (Aug. 23, 2021).

Flu vaccinations for children, adults, and seniors are available during normal store business hours. There’s no need for a prescription, and in most cases immunization fees are fully covered by health insurance.

Flu shots are proven to reduce flu-related illnesses, and the risk of serious flu complications that can result in hospitalization or death, the company reported. The federal Centers for Disease Control recommend everyone age 6 months and older get a flu shot. They also urge taking preventive actions, like avoiding people who are sick and frequent hand-washing to slow the spread of germs.

“While we are all still seeing the effects of COVID-19 in our communities, we can’t stress enough the importance of getting your annual flu vaccine,” Wegmans Pharmacy clinical and wellness services coordinator said Stacy Cairns said. “We have extra sanitation practices in place to make this process safe and easy.”

Wegmans pharmacists are certified to administer immunizations through the American Pharmacists Association‘s pharmacy-based immunization delivery program, the company said. Its pharmacy employees can also assist customers in determining insurance policy coverage.
