Boyertown, Boone, Oley Schools Dismissing Early
Several area schools and organizations – most of them located in Berks County – have either publicly announced or told area media outlets they intend to dismiss classes and close early Wednesday (Sept. 1, 2021) in anticipation of rain and other weather complications from Tropical Storm Ida.
Boyertown Area School District
“BASD is dismissing early today due to the weather forecast,” it said. “MSE/MSW: 11:30 AM, BASH: 11:45 AM, Elementaries, PreK counts, and AM Kindergarten: 12:30 PM. AM Kindergarten parents who choose to pick up their student at their normal dismissal time should report to their building office. PM Kindergarten Canceled. PM BCTC Canceled. Athletics and After School Activities Canceled.”
Daniel Boone Area School District
“Due to inclement weather possibly creating unsafe travel conditions, we will be dismissing our students early from school today, Wednesday, September 1,” the district said. “Secondary buildings, HS and MS, will be dismissed at 1:00 PM. Elementary buildings, IC and PC, will be dismissed at 1:45 PM. All after-school and evening activities/events are canceled as well. There will be no BCTC today, therefore those students must use their regular transportation. There will no PM Kindergarten.”
Oley Valley School District
“Due to the inclement weather forecast the Oley Valley School District will be operating on an early dismissal,” it said. “Middle School – 12:00; High School – 12:15 – No PM BCTC; Elementary Parent Pickup – 1:15; Elementary Bus – 1:30.”
Additionally, WFMZ-TV reported these closure announcements as of 11:20 a.m.:
- Boyertown Children’s Center, Boyertown, at 3 p.m.;
- St. Paul’s Child Development Center, Douglassville, at 3 p.m.
- Several Pennsylvania state park and state forest campground sites are being closed Wednesday and Thursday (Sept. 2) by the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources ahead of the stormy weather, the agency said. None of its 21 closures are within The Post circulation area in western Montgomery, northern Chester, and eastern Berks counties.
