Four MontCo Deaths Investigated as Linked to Ida

The deaths of two area residents, one of Schwenksville and the second of Perkiomenville, have been identified as being among four Montgomery County fatalities potentially linked to Tropical Storm Ida, investigating officials reported Friday (Sept. 3, 2021).

The Schwenksville resident was identified as Craig Messinger, 70, who was found dead Thursday (Sept. 2) in Skippack Township. Information approved for release by the office of county Coroner Dr. Michael Milbourne indicates Messinger was a victim of accidental drowning.

The Perkiomenville resident is Donald Allen Bauer, 65, whose body was recovered by emergency personnel in Bucks County. Its coroner’s office also determined the cause of death to be drowning.

Two other deaths being examined by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office include:

  • A 68-year-old woman in Fort Washington PA, whom Milbourne determined died Wednesday (Sept. 1) of accidental traumatic asphyxia; and
  • A 65-year-old man in Bridgeport PA, who died Thursday at his home. Milbourne’s report on the cause and manner of his death is pending, the county said.

The coroner’s office is charged with positively identifying the deceased, ensuring legal next-of-kin have been notified of the death, and determining the cause and manner of death through investigation, examination, and forensic testing, the county stated.
