Bridge Project to Close 422 Overnights in Township

LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – East- and westbound U.S. Route 422 will be closed and detoured, from Sept. 26 (2021; Sunday) through Oct. 8 (Friday) daily from midnight to 5 a.m., between its Armand Hammer Boulevard and Sanatoga interchanges for bridge demolition. The project involves replacing structures that carry Park and Pleasant View roads over the expressway in Lower Pottsgrove Township.

During the overnight closures, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said Tuesday (Sept. 14), eastbound U.S. 422 drivers will be directed to use Armand Hammer Boulevard and High Street to access the expressway at Rupert Road. Westbound U.S. 422 drivers will be directed to exit at the Sanatoga Interchange and use High Street and Armand Hammer Boulevard to access the expressway.

Drivers are advised to use an allow extra time when traveling near the work area, because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities depend on acceptable weather.

Replacement of the bridges is being done ahead of starting a separate project to reconstruct 422 between the Sanatoga interchange and Porter Road.

H&K Group Inc. of Skippack is the general contractor on the $7.1 million project. It is expected to finish in late 2022.
