DUI Alleged in Accident Involving Boyertown Woman

MANHEIM PA – A 27-year-old Boyertown woman, who was involved Saturday (Sept. 11, 2021) in a multiple vehicle crash in Penn Township, was arrested by the Northern Lancaster County Regional Police Department for driving under the influence and related charges, according to its CrimeWatch website report.

Police allege the woman “was reading a text message while traveling north on (South) Main Street” in the township, “when she struck three legally parked vehicles, and one occupied vehicle traveling north.” The occupied northbound vehicle “in turn struck another legally parked vehicle,” police said.

She faces two first-offense counts of DUI, one for general impairment and a second for highest rate of alcohol; careless driving, and conducting text-based communications while driving. Court records indicate charges were filed Monday (Sept. 13), and a preliminary hearing is being awaited.

The department covers Warwick, Clay, and Penn townships in Lancaster County.
