North Lewis Road Traffic Changes Start Wednesday

LIMERICK PA – About 4,300 linear feet of water main in Limerick Township will be upgraded beginning Wednesday (Sept. 22, 2021) by Pennsylvania American Water “to improve reliability for customers, reduce service disruptions, and increase water flows for firefighting,” the company announced. It estimated the cost of the improvements at $1.4 million.

Drivers can anticipate traffic restrictions will be in place during construction along North Lewis Road (at top in red), between Royersford Road and Pine Tree Drive. Crews are scheduled to work weekdays between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Additionally, Pennsylvania American reported customers might experience temporary service interruptions, discolored water, and lower-than-normal water pressure during construction. It pledged crews will work as quickly as possible to solve what it called “these temporary inconveniences.”

The project includes replacing existing pipe dating back to the 1960s with new 12-inch ductile iron main. It expects to finish the installation and connect all customer service lines to the new main by the end of November. However, final restoration and paving won’t be completed by the township until Spring 2022 as part of a storm sewer project, it added.
