Pfizer COVID Boosters Available Tuesday in Pottstown
POTTSTOWN PA – Booster shots for the Pfizer COVID-19, just approved by the federal government, will be available by appointment beginning Tuesday (Sept. 28, 2021) from the Montgomery County vaccine clinic at Bethel Community Church of Pottstown, 575 N. Keim St., the county Office of Public Health announced.
The Pottstown clinic operates Tuesdays from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Register online for an appointment here. Distribution of the vaccine is free. Individuals will be required to sign a self-attestation form to receive a booster dose of the Pfizer vaccine, and also must present their CDC vaccination card – or a picture of their card – on their cell phone.
The federal Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control this week authorized delivery of a booster to help increase protection in those already fully immunized at least six or more months earlier with both doses of the Pfizer vaccine, and who are considered at highest risk for COVID-19. The highest risk category includes:
- People age 65 and older, and residents in long-term care settings;
- People age 50–64 years with underlying medical conditions;
- People age 18–49 years with underlying medical conditions, based on their individual benefits and risks; and
- People age 18-64 years who, because of occupational or institutional setting, are at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission.
Boosters have been approved for the Pfizer vaccine only. No booster shot is recommended for recipients of the Moderna and Johnson and Johnson vaccines, which are still being evaluated.
Need a clinic elsewhere? Lost your vaccination card?
The county also operates three other clinics providing booster shots, in Norristown, King of Prussia, and Willow Grove, all with varying operating days and times. See a list here. Can’t find a time or location that works for you? See the website at https://www.vaccines.gov/search/ for a comprehensive list by zip code of all area providers with clinics.
Area residents who have lost their vaccination cards should call the Pottstown Public Health Center at 610-970-5040 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, or Fridays from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., or from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. for assistance. This help is not available Wednesdays.
