Pottsgrove Board Expected to Discuss Vacant Seat
LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – Although he is not expected to attend Tuesday (Sept. 28, 2021) night’s meeting of the Pottsgrove School District board of school directors, former board President Robert Lindgren is scheduled to be among its topics of conversation.
Lindgren two weeks ago announced his resignation as board president; he is moving out of the district. Although the resignation does not become effective until Tuesday, Lindgren at the time said his last meeting was, in fact, his last meeting. A discussion about filling his vacant seat is the only item of new business that appears under that label on the board’s Tuesday agenda.
Lindgren’s departure creates a very short-term vacancy of only a few weeks that remaining board members can choose to fill, or leave it unfilled until after early November. As district Solicitor Marc Davis (at top) noted earlier, that’s when the successor to Lindgren’s seat will be chosen by voters in the Nov. 2 general election.
Lindgren did not run for re-election; the unopposed contender for his seat is Joe Vecchio. Incumbent board members Jay Strunk, Charles Nippert, and Tina McIntyre are running for re-election, also unopposed. All four are cross-endorsed as Democrat and Republican candidates.
The 7:30 p.m. meeting is free to attend, and open to the public as both in-person and virtual sessions. The in-person meeting will be held in the large group instruction room at Pottsgrove High School on Kauffman Road, nearest to its cafeteria entrance. Face masks are required for the indoor session. Find a copy of its agenda here.
The meeting also can be seen on the Zoom conferencing platform, in which the public can participate, make comments, or ask questions. Advance registration for the webinar is available here: https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_3gMvZUzHSUed3JfbVf5NoQ.
The meeting also will be broadcast live on PCTV Channel 22 and the district website, but no public participation is available at either. Find the YouTube broadcast here: https://youtu.be/J40909EF6mY.
