MECHANICSBURG PA – Thirteen fire companies in Montgomery, Berks and Chester counties – including those in Spring City, Phoenixville, Trappe, Mont Clare, and Oaks PA – received $500 grants from Pennsylvania American Water under its annual firefighting support grant program, the company announced Wednesday (Oct. 6, 2021). Its awards are timed to coincide with National Fire Prevention Week.

Since its launch in 2009, Pennsylvania American Water has donated more than $780,000 in grants to help hundreds of fire departments and emergency service organizations across the state. All grant winners are departments that operate within the company’s service territories.

Among the winners were Liberty Steam Fire Engine Company No. 1 of Spring City, West End Fire Company No. 3 of Phoenixville, Black Rock Volunteer Fire Company of Oaks and Mont Clare, and Trappe Fire Company No. 1 in Trappe.

“Water systems and fire departments work collaboratively to deliver community fire protection, and we are proud to support to the men and women who serve our local fire departments,” Pennsylvania American Water President Mike Doran said.
