Six Fire Companies Observe Week with ‘Extravaganza’
GILBERTSVILLE PA – Six local fire companies serving parts of Montgomery and Berks counties are working together again during October to promote fire safety during National Fire Prevention Week. They’ve invited the public to join them Thursday (Oct. 7, 2021) from 6:30-9 p.m. outside Weis Market at the Gilbertsville Shopping Center, 1050 E. Philadelphia Ave., for their “Fire Prevention Extravaganza.”
Hosting the event are the Gilbertsville Area Community Ambulance Service, Eastern Berks Fire Department, Boyertown Area Fire and Rescue, Pennsburg Volunteer Fire Company, Earl Township Volunteer Fire Company No. 1, and Gilbertsville Fire and Rescue Company.
The event offers an opportunity to meet local first responders in person, learn more about their organizations, and see apparatus and equipment on display from several agencies. Of course, it also presents the chance for area residents and families to know more about preventing fires. This year’s theme is “Learn The Sounds Of Fire Safety.”
The extravaganza is free and open to the public. Plenty of parking is available in the shopping center.
New Hanover annual open house
Also Thursday and as part of Fire Prevention Week, the New Hanover Volunteer Fire and Rescue Services on Facebook said it will hold an annual fire prevention open house from 6-9 p.m. at its facility, 2154 Swamp Pike, Gilbertsville. The event is scheduled to include fire truck rides, a smoke room, stove fire demonstration, a local ambulance, Medevac crew, rescue vehicle technicians, and child car seat inspections. It too is free to attend and open to the public.
It will be joined at the event by members and equipment from the Upper Frederick Fire Company.
